Norwood police are searching for a person accused of pouring what appeared to be gasoline on residential properties in an investigation the department says is ongoing. Surveillance footage captured the person near Lane Drive and Bruce Road at around 9:30 p.m. last Saturday, and that same footage placed the individual near a fire outside a home that evening.
What the Surveillance Video Shows
According to WCVB, the footage shows the person pouring liquid resembling gasoline onto homes in the neighborhood, and a fire occurred outside a nearby residence that evening. The Norwood Police Department has not identified a suspect and is treating the matter as an active arson investigation, asking the public for help putting a name to the person seen on camera. Boston 25 News reported that investigators are specifically asking anyone who recognizes the person pictured, or who noticed anything unusual, to come forward.
Police Ask Neighbors to Check Their Cameras
Investigators want residents in the Lane Drive, Bruce Road and surrounding neighborhoods to dig through their own doorbell, security or other surveillance footage from Saturday night for any sign of suspicious activity, per the same account. Police also asked the public to report anything unusual, including activity involving people or vehicles in the area around the time of the incident.
