Pine Hill Middle School in Hephzibah removed a worker employed by an outside vendor after school officials learned of inappropriate contact or communication with students. Principal Gregory Shields notified families in a letter sent Friday and said administrators responded promptly, according to WRDW/WAGT.
The worker was not an employee of the Richmond County School System and was taken off the school premises, Yahoo News reported. The district has not identified the worker or the outside company involved, according to The Georgia Sun.
Officials have not explained what the contact or communication involved or identified other people connected to the matter. The Georgia Sun reported that Shields described the behavior as unacceptable and said it was being handled under district policies. WRDW/WAGT reported that the school cited federal confidentiality laws in declining to provide additional details.
Parents and students can report safety concerns to Pine Hill Middle School. The Richmond County School System also lists an anonymous safety tip line at 706-828-1077, according to the district’s safety-tip-line page. Public reporting has not established whether law enforcement became involved.
