A 46-year-old Paola woman is behind bars after barricading herself inside her apartment with a gun, triggering a two-hour standoff that brought county tactical officers to a quiet residential street on Durham Drive. Rebecca Paul surrendered voluntarily once the ordeal ended, and she now faces felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threat.
Officers responded to the 1100 block of Durham Drive around 2:05 p.m. Saturday after the Paola Police Department reported an armed disturbance, according to KCTV. Dispatch reported that one person involved in the disturbance was armed with a gun, and officers were able to evacuate a victim from the residence before Paul barricaded herself inside her apartment, the station reported.
The standoff stretched on for roughly two hours before Paul came out on her own, and she was booked into the Miami County Jail.
