One man died and another person was injured in a shooting in Portland’s Parkrose neighborhood, the Portland Police Bureau said. Homicide detectives are investigating, but police have not disclosed what led to the violence.
The bureau reported the shooting Tuesday in an announcement titled “Shooting in the Parkrose Neighborhood Leaves One Man Deceased,” according to the Portland Police Bureau. The announcement said one man was killed and a second person was injured.
Homicide Unit Takes Over Investigation
Homicide detectives are handling the investigation, according to police. The bureau has not released the shooting’s exact time or location, or the identities and ages of the man who died and the injured person.
Police also have not publicly identified a suspected motive, weapon or arrest, and have not disclosed the injured person’s condition. The investigation remains active.
Parkrose and Portland shooting context
This was not the only fatal shooting reported in the area in recent years. KPTV reported that a woman was killed on Nov. 23, 2023, in a separate shooting outside an apartment complex on Northeast Weidler Street near 112th Avenue in Parkrose Heights; the cited report described one fatality and no injured victim. For neighborhood context, the Portland Office of Civic Life and Portland State University Population Research Center lists Parkrose’s 2020 population at 6,253, down from 6,357 in 2010. The City of Portland says the area has been transitioning from an agricultural to an urban environment since its first subdivision plat was filed in 1911.
Citywide figures provide broader context but do not explain this case. The Portland Police Bureau’s 2025 annual report says the bureau investigated 52 homicides that year and that shooting incidents declined for the fourth consecutive year. Separately, the City of Portland’s Ceasefire July 2026 report recorded 45 shooting incidents, an 8% decrease from July 2025.
