Las Vegas police responded to the scene on West Tropicana Avenue east of Duneville Street near Jones Boulevard after a vehicle struck the pedestrian, who appeared to jump into the vehicle's path, according to police cited by KSNV. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital and remains in critical condition. The outlet reported that the vehicle was traveling eastbound.
A fatal pedestrian crash was reported along Tropicana Avenue near South Edmond Street in August, according to prior Hoodline coverage. That collision prompted a police investigation during which the roadway was temporarily closed, but the available reports do not establish that it had the same circumstances as Monday's crash.
Recent crash context
Another pedestrian was critically injured in a pre-dawn crash on Tropicana near Decatur Boulevard in December 2025, according to prior Hoodline coverage. In a separate November 2023 collision near Lindell Road and Flamingo Road, a pedestrian was struck and killed by two vehicles, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. Neither driver in that crash showed signs of impairment, according to the newspaper.
An earlier Tropicana crash had a different outcome
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, a separate July 11, 2025, fatal pedestrian crash occurred on Tropicana Avenue east of Las Vegas Boulevard after a pedestrian crossed outside a marked crosswalk and entered an eastbound vehicle's path. Police said the driver showed no indicators of impairment. The earlier crash differed from Monday's incident in date, location and outcome: Monday's pedestrian was reported in critical condition, while the 2025 pedestrian died. The LVMPD account cited here does not provide a road-condition comparison; Monday's crash remains under investigation.
The Lindell Road and Flamingo Road intersection was mentioned in connection with a separate collision, but the incidents cited above do not by themselves establish the cause of Monday's crash.
Crosswalk location and the investigation
Crosswalk location can be relevant to pedestrian-crash investigations. State traffic safety data cited by FOX5 Las Vegas shows that roughly 63% of pedestrian fatalities in Nevada occur outside marked crosswalks. Under Nevada Revised Statute 484B.283, drivers have duties to yield to pedestrians in marked or implied crosswalks, while NRS 484B.287 carries a civil penalty of up to $100, according to Justia Law.
Those general rules do not determine responsibility in Monday's collision. Police have not said whether speed played a role. KSNV reported that the driver stayed at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.
