Lingering showers and water in some washes are expected to taper off Thursday morning. Skies should turn mostly sunny by afternoon, when temperatures are forecast to reach about 93 degrees.
Rain Fades Before Thursday Afternoon
The National Weather Service’s Phoenix office says rain chances will drop sharply through the morning, with little to no additional rain expected after noon. Thursday night should turn mostly clear with a low around 79.
The change comes after Wednesday’s heavier storm activity, when Hoodline reported on flood concerns and a temporary break from the region’s usual triple-digit heat.

Heat Relief and Public Health
Heat safety resources remain available as temperatures climb. According to the City of Phoenix, cooling centers are free, open to all community members and do not require identification. Starting May 1, people who need transportation to a cooling center or other heat relief can call 2-1-1 daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to the city’s heat-relief guidance. Maricopa County’s 2025 heat-related deaths report found that approximately 50% of those deaths occurred on days when the National Weather Service heat risk was classified as moderate. The county health department also reported that a heat-related death occurred every day from June 18, 2024, through July 31, 2024, during a past 44-day period.
How HeatRisk Guides Heat Safety
A forecast near 100 degrees is not the only factor behind the National Weather Service’s HeatRisk assessment. The National Weather Service says the tool also considers how unusual the temperatures are, the time of year, the duration of the heat and established heat-health thresholds. Phoenix’s 2026 Heat Response Plan includes measures beyond cooling centers. The city says volunteers will provide heat-safety information and cold water at Camelback Mountain, Piestewa Peak and South Mountain every Saturday from May 1 to Sept. 30, between 7 and 10 a.m. Its Heat Relief Network also offers free water and indoor locations where residents can cool off.
Friday is forecast to be sunny with a high near 100, followed by weekend highs ranging from 102 to 105 degrees. Overnight lows should drop into the 70s.
Heat Builds Into Next Week
Phoenix is forecast to see highs around 100 degrees, with some days slightly above 100, into next week. Rain chances should remain minimal through most of that stretch, although a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms returns Monday night.
The latest National Weather Service forecast lists no watches, warnings or advisories for Phoenix. Residents in areas that received heavier rain should still use caution around flowing washes and flood-control channels Thursday morning, particularly east and northeast of the city, and never drive through moving water.
