DeKalb County police responded Wednesday night to reports of a shooting near two neighboring apartment complexes on Bouldercrest Road, where a car had a shattered window and evidence markers stretched across the street between the properties. Officers reported minor injuries but could not immediately confirm whether they were caused by gunfire.
Authorities responded after reports of a shooting, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Crews from the station spotted an older model green Honda Civic parked in front of Artesian East Village Apartment Homes, its back driver's-side window shattered. Evidence markers lined the street, stretching from that vehicle toward Summit Hill Apartment Homes, suggesting the incident touched both complexes rather than staying contained to one.
Per police, the injuries reported were described as minor, but investigators had not confirmed whether those injuries stemmed directly from the shooting itself or from some other cause at the scene. Police also had not released any details about potential suspects or what might have led to the shooting as of the station's report Wednesday night.
A Complex With a Documented History of Violence
Summit Hill has been the site of deadly violence before. In July 2024, 16-year-old Andre Fortson was fatally shot in an apartment breezeway there, a killing that came just two months after his older brother, U.S. Senior Airman Roger Fortson, was killed by a Florida sheriff's deputy, according to 11Alive.
Artesian East Village has its own troubled record. In March 2023, two young cousins, ages 6 and 7, were wounded when bullets entered an apartment there, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
Bouldercrest Corridor Flagged for Years of Crime
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution published a list of properties it labeled dangerous dwellings. That reporting also documented bullet holes and structural hazards on the property alongside the persistent violent crime.
The pattern has continued more recently. In November 2025, a sleeping resident was shot and hospitalized after gunfire struck apartments along Bouldercrest Road, with the shooter's vehicle speeding away from the scene before police arrived. And in March 2026, a 7-year-old boy died in an apparent accidental shooting at a home on Loveless Drive, just off Bouldercrest Road, according to family members who confirmed the death was accidental while investigators processed the scene.
