A pedestrian was hospitalized after a southbound Ford Bronco struck him on Highway 23 near St. Francis Street in Richmond, Minnesota, at about 10:18 p.m. Saturday. The driver and passenger inside the SUV were not injured, while the man who was hit was taken to a St. Cloud hospital.
According to the St. Cloud Times, the Bronco was traveling south on Highway 23 when it collided with the pedestrian, who was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with what the paper described as non-life-threatening injuries. A separate report from KNSI identifies the pedestrian as Grant Rossberg and describes his injuries as life-threatening, a conflicting account that has not been resolved between the two outlets.
The 2024 Ford Bronco was driven by a 39-year-old woman from Clements, Minnesota, with a 38-year-old male passenger, also from Clements, riding alongside her, the St. Cloud Times reports. Both were wearing seatbelts, and neither was injured in the crash, according to the same account.
Multiple Agencies Responded To The Scene
The crash drew a wide emergency response. The Cold Spring Police Department, Stearns County Sheriff's Office, Richmond Fire and Rescue, and Mayo EMS all responded to the scene, per the St. Cloud Times report.
Details beyond the immediate aftermath remain limited. It has not been established whether the driver will face citations, whether impairment played any role, or what specific treatment Rossberg received once he arrived at the hospital, and neither outlet has reported an update on his condition since the crash.

This is not the only recent crash reported on that stretch of roadway. A separate crash on Highway 23 in Richmond on Aug. 25 sent one driver to Paynesville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a report from WJON. The August incident was a separate crash from Saturday's.
