A 62-year-old man being held at San Diego Central Jail died at a hospital Sunday night after becoming disoriented and going into medical distress, according to authorities. He had been in custody since November 2025 on charges that included assault with a deadly weapon, issuing criminal threats and resisting arrest, and his name has not been released while officials work to notify his family.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the man became disoriented in a communal room at the detention center on Sunday and was escorted to the facility's medical clinic for evaluation. Once there, he went into medical distress, and medical staff and deputies began lifesaving measures on site.
