Coastal Flooding And Rip Currents Remain The Main Concern
A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect along San Diego County’s coastal areas through 5 p.m. Wednesday. The National Weather Service San Diego expects elevated surf of 3 to 5 feet, with local sets up to 7 feet on south-facing beaches, while morning high tides reach roughly 6.8 to 7.1 feet.
Minor flooding and beach erosion are possible in low-lying coastal areas, and a high risk of strong rip and longshore currents lasts through Tuesday. People should avoid the water during morning high tides, stay off rock walls and jetties, and never drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
Sunny Skies Give Way To A Late-Week Heat Surge
Tuesday’s high is forecast near 79 degrees, followed by 79 degrees Wednesday. Temperatures then climb later in the week, with a warming trend continuing into next weekend.
Coastal and valley locations are expected to face moderate or greater heat risk from Thursday through Sunday, while inland valleys and desert communities run hotter. Overnight lows could remain in the lower to mid-70s late in the week, making the weekend warmth linger well after sunset.
