Santa Rosa police are asking for help locating a suspect who appears to be 25 to 35 years old and was last seen walking near Odell Lane in Santa Rosa, according to its public post.
California’s missing-person guidance says there is no waiting period to report someone missing; police and sheriffs’ departments must accept reports without delay and give them priority, the California Department of Justice says.
A missing-person notice and an AMBER Alert have different thresholds. For California’s AMBER Alert plan, law enforcement must confirm an abduction, the child must meet an age or disability requirement, there must be reason to believe the child faces imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death, and information must be available to help the public assist in recovery, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Statewide missing-person statistics also have a specific scope: the DOJ compiles them from entries and cancellations made by law enforcement agencies in its Missing Persons System, the department explains.
