Six Flags Over Georgia has transformed after dark for its 2026 Fright Fest, rolling out spooky attractions that blend roaming scare actors, movie-inspired haunted houses, and new haunted attractions. The seasonal event brings twisted nightmares, diabolical contraptions and eerie creatures to the Austell theme park, turning the same coasters and midways families ride by day into a nighttime scare zone once the sun goes down.
The premium haunt lineup includes attractions tied to horror franchises familiar to moviegoers, including The Conjuring Universe and Saw, both featured as haunted-house attractions this season.
Fright Fest returns to the park on select nights, running from September 12 through November 1, and folds in roaming scare actors alongside the themed haunted houses that have become the event's signature draw.
What It Costs to Get Scared
Not every fright comes included with a standard ticket. Access to the park's premium haunted mazes during Fright Fest requires a separate Haunted Attractions Pass or bundle starting at $69. Guests can purchase haunted-house access separately from park admission.
Six Flags Over Georgia isn't alone in expanding its haunt offerings this year. Across the newly combined Six Flags and Cedar Fair portfolio, the chain rolled out 107 haunted mazes for the fall 2026 season, according to Haunted Attraction Network. Six Flags and Cedar Fair L.P. merged to form a combined company.
Daytime Trick-or-Treating for Younger Kids
Families with younger children aren't shut out of the fall fun. On Saturdays and Sundays from September 12 through November 1, the park also hosts Tricks & Treats, a daytime event featuring trick-or-treating trails, costume contests, and Looney Tunes character appearances before the nighttime scares take over, the same outlet reports. The dual-tier programming lets the park draw families during daylight hours before shifting into adult horror territory after dark.
Safety Rules Guests Need to Know
Fright Fest comes with a set of strict operational rules. Guests aged 15 and younger must be accompanied by a chaperone at least 21 years old with valid photo ID to enter or remain in the park after 4 p.m. daily, a policy Six Flags Over Georgia put in place following opening-day altercations and safety concerns in spring 2024, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. Chaperones are limited to supervising no more than 10 guests per day, and the park bans all costume masks, face coverings, or identity-concealing makeup for the duration of the event, per Six Flags' own event guidelines. There's also no re-entry after 7 p.m. on Fright Fest nights, meaning anyone who exits the gates cannot come back in for the rest of the evening, a restriction designed to curb loitering and tailgating in the parking lots.
Those safety measures follow a somber chapter in the park's recent history. In January 2024, local authorities charged a driver with involuntary manslaughter following the October 2023 death of 43-year-old Six Flags Over Georgia employee Andrea Crook, who suffered fatal head injuries after being ejected from an unbelted cargo van shuttling scare actors during a previous Fright Fest.
Looking beyond Halloween, Six Flags corporate leadership has confirmed plans to revive the seasonal Holiday in the Park winter festival at Six Flags Over Georgia later this year, after the event was briefly left off the park's schedule in 2025, according to Theme Park Insider. Restoring the winter festival fits into the post-merger push to keep attendance and season pass renewals strong year-round, not just during the Halloween rush.
