St. Charles County police are asking residents to review home surveillance footage after a 62-year-old woman was assaulted in a subdivision. The incident began while she was walking her dogs and confronted a driver whose vehicle nearly struck them amid erratic driving.

According to KMOV / First Alert 4, the woman asked the driver to slow down. Police say the driver stopped, got out of the vehicle and assaulted the woman, then got back in and drove away. The driver had reportedly been in the subdivision for only a short time.

Suspect Described as Woman in Black Driving GMC Acadia

Investigators describe the driver as a Black woman wearing all-black clothing and driving a black GMC Acadia SUV, according to First Alert 4. The station reported that she left the subdivision after the alleged assault. Her whereabouts remain unknown.

The victim told investigators she believed the driver might have been a contracted package delivery worker because she saw several packages in the vehicle, First Alert 4 reported. That possibility has not been independently confirmed, and no company affiliation has been verified.

Police Ask Dardenne and Cheneaux Village Residents to Check Cameras

St. Charles County police have asked residents in the Dardenne and Cheneaux Village areas to review surveillance video from around the time of the incident, according to First Alert 4. Footage could help investigators identify the driver or show the SUV, the assault, or nearby package deliveries.

Pedestrian Safety Data

The available county figure is not a count of pedestrian-involved crashes for a single latest year: MoDOT’s 2016–2018 crash report lists six pedestrians seriously injured in crashes in St. Charles County’s non-city or unincorporated areas. Those figures are separate from the assault described here. Separately, St. Charles County’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan sets a goal of reducing fatal and serious-injury crashes by 50% by 2030 and eliminating them by 2050.

No arrest has been announced. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Mark Leone at 636-949-7900, extension 2629, or by email at [email protected], First Alert 4 reported.
