The National Weather Service expects light southerly winds Thursday. A 20% to 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives during the afternoon and evening, and any storms should be isolated rather than a widespread washout.
Heat Advisory Runs Through Saturday
A Heat Advisory is in effect through 8 p.m. Saturday for the St. Louis area. Friday should bring another hot day near 97 degrees with heat index values around 105, followed by a mostly sunny Saturday near 98; overnight lows will remain around 75, offering little relief.
Drink plenty of fluids, take breaks in air conditioning or shade, and move strenuous plans to early morning or evening when possible.
Cooler Air Finally Arrives Next Week
The weekend heat should begin to ease Sunday, when the high is expected near 93 with a slight chance of precipitation. A cold front may reach the area Monday, with cooler temperatures afterward; Tuesday and Wednesday should bring cooler, near-normal temperatures.
