Sunny Tuesday Gives Way To Midweek Heat
The National Weather Service expects sunny skies across the city Tuesday, with a light west wind around 7 mph. Tuesday night should turn partly cloudy with a low near 69.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny and warmer, reaching about 87 degrees. Southwest winds will run between 5 and 15 mph, making it the first of two notably hot days before the forecast turns more unsettled. According to the National Weather Service, Central Park reached 99°F on June 24, 2025.
Thursday Brings The Week’s Main Rain Chance
Showers could arrive after 2 p.m. Thursday, with a 50% chance of precipitation and a high near 87.
Thursday night brings another 50% chance of showers, along with a chance of thunderstorms between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Forecasters say severe weather is unlikely, and no watches, warnings or advisories are currently posted for New York City.
Cooler, Brighter Weather Returns Friday
Friday looks sunny and cooler, with a high near 78 and a low around 64 under mostly clear skies. Saturday should be mostly sunny with a high near 79, although a slight chance of showers develops Saturday night.
According to the NYC Environment & Health Data Portal, New York City’s average temperatures have increased by 0.25°F per decade over the past century. The longer-term climate outlook is separate from this week’s forecast.
Sunday carries a 30% chance of rain showers and a high near 80 before mostly sunny skies return Monday, when temperatures climb to about 82. For outdoor plans, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday currently offer the cleanest weather windows, while Thursday is the day to keep an eye on the sky.
