Today will bring north winds of 5 to 10 mph, with gusts reaching 20 mph. Tomorrow stays sunny with a high near 77, while Friday returns to around 78 degrees; overnight lows will settle in the mid-60s. Coastal neighborhoods and western valleys could still see some low clouds during the overnight and morning hours.
Holiday Weekend Turns Warmer
Temperatures climb Saturday, when San Diego could reach 81 degrees under mostly cloudy skies, with a slight chance of showers after 5 PM next Sunday looks warmer at about 84 degrees, with a small chance of showers before 11 AM, followed by partly sunny skies. Labor Day should stay mostly sunny and reach around 83 degrees, though a slight shower chance remains.
Surf Builds At San Diego Beaches
The bigger concern for beachgoers is the ocean, not the rain. Even though Hurricane Marie is expected to remain well southwest of Southern California, the National Weather Service San Diego says a large south swell could bring 6- to 10-foot surf, strong rip and longshore currents, and possible tidal overflow or coastal flooding from Saturday through next Monday, with the greatest risk expected next Monday.
