The Tampa Bay Senior Expo is bringing more than 75 vendors, free health screenings and retirement planning help to the St. Petersburg Coliseum on October 21, with a second stop planned for Gulfview Square Mall in Pasco County on October 29. The free event, aimed at men and women aged 50 and older, is produced and presented by the Tampa Bay Times, which will also run seminars covering investment guidance, travel news and retirement choices.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, the St. Petersburg expo will take place at the St. Petersburg Coliseum, located at 535 4th Ave N, with free parking for attendees. The first 250 people through the door will receive a free $5 Walgreens gift card, per the same listing. Seminars, which are still being finalized, will only be held at the St. Petersburg location, not at the Pasco County stop.
Anyone with questions about the event can reach out to William Deacon at 727-893-8523 or [email protected], or Pauline Brockman at 727-893-8277 or [email protected], both listed as contacts for the expo. The expo brings programs, services and information geared toward seniors and caregivers together at the event.
Why the Timing Matters for Local Seniors
The October dates line up with Medicare's annual Fall Open Enrollment period, which runs nationwide from October 15 through December 7 each year, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. That window is when beneficiaries can re-evaluate and switch their Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription plans, making the expo's health insurance guidance and wellness planning especially relevant for attendees weighing their options this fall.
The expo has stops in St. Petersburg and Pasco County.
The St. Petersburg Venue
The St. Petersburg Coliseum features a 15,500-square-foot red oak ballroom floor and can accommodate up to 1,800 guests, according to PartySlate.
The Coliseum has hosted a string of large public gatherings in recent months, including the Build St. Pete Construction Expo in August and a developer showdown over the Trop site last spring.
The Pasco County leg of the expo will unfold in a very different setting: Gulfview Square Mall in Port Richey.
The Tampa Bay Times and the Expo
The Tampa Bay Times produces and presents the Tampa Bay Senior Expo.
The expo brings together lifestyle and healthcare resources for older adults.
