The National Weather Service Tampa Bay puts Saturday’s rain chance near 20%, with generally light southwest winds of 2 to 7 mph. Any storm that develops could bring a quick downpour, lightning and a sudden gust, but expected rainfall totals are less than a tenth of an inch in most spots.
Sunday Stays Hot Before Labor Day Turns Wetter
Sunday will bring another high near 93 degrees and a 30% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly between late morning and midafternoon. Overnight lows will remain around 77 degrees, so the city’s brief evening cooldown will be more theoretical than refreshing.
The updated outlook is a sharper turn from the earlier weekend forecast noted by Hoodline. Labor Day now carries a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 92 and storms possible both before and after sunrise.
Storm Chances Rise Again Tuesday
Rain chances remain elevated Monday night, then peak around 80% Tuesday as widespread showers and thunderstorms become possible from late morning into the evening. Wednesday and Thursday should still offer sunny breaks, but both days carry additional afternoon storm chances, with highs staying in the low 90s.
The weather service says a low risk of localized flooding will continue through Monday where heavier storms repeatedly hit the same areas. No watches, warnings or advisories are currently posted, but anyone heading outside should keep lightning alerts nearby and move indoors as soon as thunder is heard.
