The Petite Frame opened its Zona Rosa storefront in July in a space previously occupied by Francesca’s, according to Kansas City Magazine. Owner Jessica Reynolds built the boutique around petite clothing after more than 16 years in corporate retail, the magazine reported.
A boutique in a center with a documented redevelopment history
Zona Rosa’s recent history offers context for the setting, but not a measure of its current retail conditions. In September 2020, The Kansas City Star reported that more than 50 storefronts at the center were shuttered and that managers had announced a multimillion-dollar redevelopment expected to conclude by spring 2021. That report records the vacancy and planned timeline at the time; it does not establish how many stores are vacant now or whether the project finished on schedule.
Francesca’s later report is separate
In January 2026, the Kansas City Business Journal reported that Francesca’s appeared to be closing and listed a Zona Rosa store among six locations in the Kansas City area. That chainwide report is distinct from The Petite Frame’s opening and does not establish why the boutique moved into the space, or a connection between the two developments.
