A 28-year-old man was arrested after a confrontation at a Thornton gas station ended with a 40-year-old woman fatally stabbed, according to police reporting cited by The Denver Post.
Thornton officers went to the Maverik at 237 E. 120th Ave. at about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday for a reported physical disturbance. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she later died. Police have not said whether she and the man knew each other or what prompted the confrontation.
Police said the suspect left before officers arrived. Witnesses provided a description of the vehicle he was driving, and officers later arrested Anthony Valenta while he was driving a matching vehicle, the Denver Post reported. He was booked into the Adams County Sheriff's Detention Facility at 12:07 a.m. Thursday on suspicion of first-degree murder.
What is known — and what is not
The booking allegation is not the same as a conviction, and the cited report does not establish that formal felony charges had been filed. The victim's identity is expected to be released by the Adams County Coroner's Office. The available reporting also does not establish a motive, the relationship between the two people or the sequence of events inside and outside the station.

Thornton police reported a separate stabbing on Aug. 13 near Margaret Carpenter Fields at 11151 Colorado Boulevard. In that case, an adult male suffered a serious but non-life-threatening wound, and police said a suspect was later located at a gas station after witnesses supplied a license plate number. The department's account does not connect that incident to Wednesday's fatal stabbing; the cases differed in date, location, victim outcome and reported circumstances.
The separate case illustrates that witness information can help investigators locate a suspect, but it is only a comparable incident—not evidence of a connection or of an increase in violence. The current investigation remains focused on determining what led to the deadly confrontation at the East 120th Avenue station.
