A 19-year-old Totowa man has been arrested in connection with a violent assault at a Glassboro college party that left a victim with injuries serious enough to require extensive and prolonged medical treatment. Vincent Spagnola was taken into custody on September 13 outside a different college party after officers stopped him for a local ordinance violation, and he was remanded to the Salem County Correctional Facility.
The case stretches back to April 3, when police were notified around 11 a.m. that an assault had occurred roughly nine hours earlier at a residence in the 100 block of Wilson Avenue, according to Patch. The attack, which happened during a college party at around 2 a.m., left one person with multiple injuries that required extensive and prolonged medical treatment, the outlet reported. Spagnola was charged with third-degree aggravated assault, per Newport Dispatch.
A Second Teen Charged Months Earlier
Spagnola wasn't the only person accused in the incident. Maximus Danziger, 19, of Manahawkin, was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment, and was served a summons on June 24 — weeks before Spagnola's own charges were filed. The Glassboro Police Department Detective Bureau spent several months investigating the case before Spagnola's arrest came together.
Danziger's charges and Spagnola's arrest represent two separate outcomes stemming from the same night at the Wilson Avenue party. The gap between the June summons for Danziger and the September arrest of Spagnola underscores just how long the investigation dragged on before police tracked him down.
Arrested at Another Party Months Later
Spagnola's eventual arrest didn't happen at the scene of the original assault. Instead, officers located him outside a different college party, where he was stopped for a local ordinance violation before being taken into custody in connection with the April attack. He was then transported to the Salem County Correctional Facility.
