A set of twin brothers is bringing a new bagel shop to downtown Xenia, setting up at 13 E. Main St. with a promise to do things the old-fashioned way: boiled, then baked.
A Traditional Approach to Bagels
The new business, called Twin Bagel, will feature bagels made the traditional way, boiled and baked, according to the Springfield News-Sun. That two-step method, common among classic Northeastern bagel shops, is a departure from the steamed or baked-only shortcuts used by many mass-market bakeries. As reported by daytondailynews.com, the shop will sit at 13 E. Main St., putting it right in the heart of downtown Xenia.
Beyond the location and the boiled-and-baked method, details are scarce. The brothers' names, their backgrounds, an opening date, hours, and a broader menu have not been confirmed, and it is not yet clear whether the storefront is open, still under construction, or simply in the planning stages.
Part of a Changing Downtown
Twin Bagel's arrival comes as downtown Xenia continues to see movement on other fronts. The City of Xenia notes that work continues on the coming Xenia Market District, with the site said to be transitioning to a new phase in the near future, though the scope, cost, and timeline of that project have not been detailed publicly.
Downtown Xenia has drawn new food businesses before. Back in 2015, Ha Ha Pizza, long a fixture in nearby Yellow Springs, opened a second location across from the Xenia courthouse, according to the Yellow Springs News. Twin Bagel now joins that lineage of restaurants betting on the downtown corridor, even as key specifics about its own launch remain unannounced.
