The man accused of gunning down his former partner outside her Versailles workplace last September is now facing 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of invasion of privacy, according to court documents. Robert Anselmo, 56, also faces first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges tied to the fatal shooting of Johnetta Yeager.

New Charges Trace Back to Seized Phone

According to court documents cited by KOMU 8, police obtained a search warrant for Anselmo's home following the shooting and recovered his phone there. Investigators found images and videos depicting child sexual abuse on the device. The material depicted victims changing clothes in a bathroom. Those digital forensic findings form the basis of the new charges now layered onto his pending murder case.

Yeager was fatally shot on September 22, 2025. The Advertiser reports that Yeager was fatally shot in the parking lot of the USDA Soil and Water Conservation office on South Burke Street in Versailles, according to The Advertiser.

A History Documented in Civil Court

Before her death, an ex-parte order of protection had been filed against Anselmo, and the two former romantic partners were embroiled in ongoing civil court litigation, according to KRMS Radio. KRMS identified a September 30, 2025, hearing as a bond hearing for Anselmo. That history of domestic disputes and legal protection efforts preceded the shooting.

Law enforcement officers took Anselmo into custody in neighboring Miller County on the day of the shooting. He was booked into the Morgan County Jail shortly after 8 p.m., about two hours after authorities announced his custody, KRMS Radio 1050 AM reported. Surveillance footage showed a person in a pink/orange hooded sweatshirt approaching Yeager's vehicle, per The Advertiser's reporting.

Case Moves to New Venue Ahead of Trial

Anselmo entered a plea of not guilty to first-degree murder and armed criminal action in Morgan County Circuit Court, and in February a circuit judge granted a motion for a change of venue for his trial, according to KRCG 13. Versailles police investigated the homicide with assistance from the Lake of the Ozarks Major Case Squad. Prosecuting Attorney Dustin Dunklee is involved in Anselmo's case.

Anselmo remains held in the Morgan County Jail without bond as his murder case continues through the court system.
