Victor Panebianco was sentenced Tuesday in Riverhead to 25 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of Christopher Millwater, a 52-year-old Selden man, at the Stony Brook Yacht Club in November 2025. State Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei also imposed five years of post-release supervision, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

What led to the sentence

Prosecutors said Panebianco and Kacy Corso traveled from King, North Carolina, after Corso posted angry messages about Millwater on Facebook, according to Daily Voice. Corso followed Millwater to the yacht club, where her vehicle blocked his attempt to leave. Panebianco then chased Millwater and stabbed him twice in the chest before kicking him in the head, according to the district attorney’s account.

Suffolk County Police received a 911 call at 3:42 a.m. on Nov. 10, 2025, reporting an unconscious man in the parking lot. Millwater was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Panebianco and Corso then fled to North Carolina. Panebianco was arrested there eight days later, on Nov. 19, while Corso was arrested in Suffolk County, according to Daily Voice.

Pleas and sentencing

The yacht club’s community role

According to the Stony Brook Yacht Club, the club sits along the protected waters of Stony Brook Harbor and serves boaters, families and community members.

Panebianco pleaded guilty in August to first-degree manslaughter. District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney said prosecutors sought the 25-year term, the maximum sentence sought by his office, and that the plea held Panebianco accountable without requiring Millwater’s family to endure a trial, according to Greater Long Island.

Corso pleaded guilty in July to first-degree manslaughter for her role in the killing and was scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday to seven years in prison, according to the district attorney’s office.
