Leawood police were called to the scene just before noon, and a tow truck hauled the submerged car out of the water.
The volunteer team had been working through satellite images and sonar scans before a diver went into the water to physically check a sonar hit, according to KCTV. Once the vehicle was located, its license plate matched a car tied to an existing missing person case, prompting the call to Leawood police.
