Deputies from the precinct responded to the hospital, located in the 27800 block of Northwest Freeway, and are now assisting the Waller County Sheriff's Office as it investigates.
The arrival was first reported by Mark Herman, Harris County Constable Precinct 4, whose office said deputies were on scene at the hospital assisting the outside agency. Because the shooting itself occurred in Waller County, that county's sheriff's office holds primary investigative responsibility for the case, while Precinct 4 deputies are providing on-scene assistance at the medical center. The constable's office said the investigating agency will release additional information as it becomes available.
Several basic details remain unconfirmed. The precise location where the shooting took place in Waller County, the victim's medical status and identity, the identity of the friend who drove him to the hospital, and any suspect or vehicle description have not yet been established by investigators, per the constable's office.

The hospital itself sits on a 32-acre campus near Highway 290 and the Grand Parkway, according to Memorial Hermann.
That cross-county movement also explains why two separate law enforcement agencies are now involved in a single case. Under Chapter 362 of the Texas Local Government Code, law enforcement agencies in Texas are authorized to provide inter-agency assistance across municipal and county boundaries during emergencies or active criminal investigations, according to the Texas Constitution and Statutes. That framework is what allowed Harris County deputies to post up at the hospital in support of Waller County investigators working a case that began outside their own jurisdiction.
A Precinct Already Stretched Thin Over the Holiday Weekend
The hospital call came in the middle of a special Labor Day Zero Tolerance Operation that Precinct 4 was running from Saturday through Sunday, deploying increased deputy patrols across the precinct for the holiday weekend. That heightened staffing may help explain how deputies were positioned to respond quickly once the call came in.
Precinct 4 is the largest constable agency in the country, with more than 670 sworn officers covering over 1.2 million residents across unincorporated northern Harris County, including Cypress and Spring. The office also pushes real-time crime alerts and investigation updates to residents through its C4 NOW mobile app.
Leading the investigation on the Waller County side is Sheriff Troy Guidry, who took office in 2021 after 29 years with the Harris County Sheriff's Office and was re-elected to a second term beginning in 2025, according to the Waller County Sheriff's Office. His prior tenure in Harris County gives him direct familiarity with the neighboring agency now assisting on this case.
Part of a Broader Pattern in North Harris County
This is not the first time the Cypress hospital campus has drawn a Precinct 4 response for a security matter; the facility previously required deputies to make arrests in December 2020 and January 2022 after suspects assaulted medical personnel there, incidents that fall under Texas law treating assault on healthcare workers on medical property as an enhanced offense.
The hospital call also arrives amid a run of gun violence across the precinct's territory. Just last month, Hoodline reported that a man was wounded in a non-fatal shooting on Olmstead Park Drive in Cypress, with deputies launching a neighborhood search for the shooter who fled the scene. Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital itself is in the middle of a $277.5 million campus expansion that began in late 2025, adding a 220,714-square-foot patient bed tower and expanded parking, with completion slated for May 2027, according to Texas.gov records. The privately funded project underscores the growing demand on emergency capacity in the fast-developing Cypress and Waller County corridor. Constable Herman's office said further details on the shooting will be released once available from the investigating agency.
