A man in his 20s was shot in the foot Friday around 1:45 a.m. during a drive-by shooting on Orlando Avenue in Westwood, Cincinnati's largest neighborhood. Authorities have not released any suspect information, leaving the shooter's identity unknown as investigators work the case.
WKRC reported the victim, a man in his 20s, was struck in the foot and that police had no suspect information to share at this time.
Westwood is a Cincinnati neighborhood. The neighborhood falls under the jurisdiction of Cincinnati Police Department District 3, which polices Westwood and 17 other West Side neighborhoods across roughly 20 square miles.
A Pattern of Gunfire in Westwood
Thursday's shooting is the latest in a string of gun incidents to hit Westwood this year. In August, a man was hurt in a non-fatal shooting on McFadden Avenue with the gunman still at large, a case Hoodline previously covered in detail. Later that same month, a Westwood man was wanted after firing a shot near a mother and three children on Montana Avenue, while a fatal shooting on Boudinot Avenue in April led to a teen being indicted as an adult.
An earlier daytime shooting on McHenry Avenue in April also left the neighborhood on edge.
Citywide Trends Amid Local Concerns
Localized incidents of drive-by gunfire like Friday's remain a persistent concern for West Side residents.
The city also runs the Cincinnati Initiative to Reduce Violence, a multi-agency focused-deterrence program established in 2007 that coordinates police intelligence, community outreach, and social services to prevent street group gun violence, according to City of Cincinnati CincyInsights data. The program was modeled after Boston's focused-deterrence framework for curbing group-related gun violence.

Knowingly discharging a firearm inside or on a motor vehicle is prohibited under Ohio Revised Code § 2923.16.
Police have not released a vehicle description or physical evidence details.
