A woman riding a white 2025 Kawasaki Ninja died after her motorcycle collided with an SUV at the intersection of Saratoga and Latimer avenues in San Jose, police said. The crash happened just after 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 10, and the motorcyclist was rushed to a hospital with major injuries before later dying from them.
According to a police release detailed by the East Bay Times, the motorcyclist was riding northbound on Saratoga Avenue when a white 2021 Audi Q5 struck her while turning left onto Latimer Avenue from southbound Saratoga Avenue. The motorcyclist was stabilized at the hospital before she later died from her injuries, San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih said.
The driver of the Audi, also a woman, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, per Shih. No additional details about the driver have been released.
Identity Withheld Pending Family Notification
The Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner will release the motorcyclist's identity once it has been confirmed and her next of kin have been notified, the report notes. As of now, her name has not been made public.

A Rising Toll on San Jose Streets
The crash adds to a grim tally for San Jose this year. Per the same account, San Jose traffic fatalities have reached 36 in 2026, compared with 24 traffic fatalities investigated by the same point in 2025.
Motorcyclists remain a significant share of national road deaths. In 2024, 6,228 motorcyclists were killed nationwide, accounting for 16% of all traffic fatalities, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
