Police said a 24-year-old man was stabbed Tuesday night on the northbound platform for the No. 2 train at the East 180th Street station in the Bronx. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. PIX11, citing sources, reported that the victim has been uncooperative; detectives are searching for a suspect, and no arrests had been made as of Wednesday.
The attack was reported by PIX11. In a separate incident, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, a 65-year-old woman was pushed from behind onto the tracks on the 5-train platform at the station before police rescued her and took a person of interest into custody, according to News 12 Bronx. The station also saw a 45-year-old man slashed in the neck after a verbal argument on the northbound platform in late July, with police reporting the suspect pushed the victim before the slashing, per the same outlet's reporting from that month.
Other Reported Incidents at the Station
A separate incident occurred along the same corridor on August 17, 2026, when a 31-year-old commuter was slashed in the arm aboard a southbound 2 train and exited at Bronx Park East. Hoodline reported that the attacker fled.
Transit District 12’s headquarters is at 460 Morris Park Avenue, opposite the East 180th Street station, according to the NYPD.
A Landmark Station Building
The station’s landmark building was built in 1912 as the administration building for the New York, Westchester, and Boston Railroad and now serves as the subway entrance, according to LHP Architects.
The stabbing victim was rushed to treatment in stable condition, per PIX11's reporting, though the hospital was not specified in that account. St. Barnabas Hospital, in the nearby Belmont section, was the destination for the woman pushed onto the tracks in August, according to News 12 Bronx.
Earlier Reports Involved Different Incidents
News 12 Bronx reported that a separate assault occurred at the East 180th Street station on Aug. 3, 2026, when a man punched a 51-year-old man in the face and fled. That incident was a reported assault, not a stabbing. The August 28 track incident and the August 17 train slashing described above also differed in their circumstances and locations.
Limits of the Available Crime Data
The timing fits into a broader statistical tension playing out across the city. NYPD CompStat data through October 11 shows citywide subway transit crime complaints rose 1.6% year-to-date to 1,697 reported incidents, even as major felony assault complaints citywide held flat compared to 2025, according to NYPD figures. Transit offenses reportedly spiked 22% during the week of October 5 to October 11 alone.
It also does not provide a count specific to East 180th Street, so the reported incidents cannot establish a station-level crime trend.
The Investigation Remains Open
Police have not announced an arrest or a charge in the stabbing. Any charging decision would follow the investigation.
