How the company charges
52Launch says it requires a one-time upfront investment and does not charge a commission after a product launches, according to its FAQ. The FAQ also says the company does not provide patenting services itself, but can refer clients to legal partners. Its studio is at Saxonville Mills, 1602 Concord St. in Framingham.
A historic mill setting
The Framingham Historical Commission’s cultural-resources inventory identifies Saxonville’s mill buildings as part of both the old Saxonville Mills complex and the National Register’s Saxonville Historic District.
Two different product totals
WCVB reported that 52Launch said it had launched more than 750 products and was working on about 200 more. The company’s portfolio page gives a lower figure, saying it has taken more than 730 products to market. The published figures differ and have not been reconciled.
Development work and a prominent product
In its report, WCVB described a process that can include 3-D modeling, prototypes, testing and manufacturing, with designers, marketers and manufacturing partners involved at different stages. The station also reported that co-founder and CEO Dan Gonyea said the Eggmazing Egg Decorator sold millions of units and generated significant revenue.
52Launch’s Eggmazing case study claims sales exceeded 55 million units over several weeks. That figure, like the sales account attributed to Gonyea by WCVB, has not been independently verified.
