Portland gets one more sunny, unusually warm day Thursday, with clear skies and a high near 78 after an early-morning reading around 54 degrees at Portland International Airport. The break ends quickly: rain returns Friday, temperatures slide into the low 60s, and Saturday stays cool with another chance of showers.
Thursday Brings One Last Warm Afternoon
The National Weather Service expects sunny skies across Portland, with northwest winds around 5.8 mph and dry conditions through Thursday. Temperatures should climb through the 60s around midday and peak near 78 degrees in the late afternoon, making Thursday the standout outdoor day of the next several days.
Rain Arrives Friday, Then Lingers Into Saturday
Rain is likely to reach the I-5 corridor Friday afternoon to early evening, though the Willamette Valley is more likely to stay drier. Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 50s and 60s.
Friday night into Saturday morning brings another chance of light rain, followed by a partly sunny Saturday with showers possible before 5 p.m. Saturday’s high should stay near 61 degrees, so the weekend outlook is more jacket-and-coffee than late-summer encore.
Clearer Skies Return With Chilly Nights
Sunday looks sunnier and cooler, with a high near 65, while Monday should be sunny and a little warmer near 67. Overnight lows fall into the mid-40s, and the weather service says frost is most likely in sheltered rural valleys away from Portland’s urban core.
Tuesday looks mostly sunny, while rain chances remain low into Wednesday. Anyone heading toward the north or central Oregon Coast or south Washington Coast Thursday morning should also be prepared for dense fog and sharply reduced visibility until 10 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2026.
