A 37-year-old Adelanto man is behind bars on suspicion of attempted murder after authorities say he stabbed another man during a confrontation near an alley in Victorville, with the wounded victim walking away to seek help at a nearby convenience store. Daniel Hernandez now also faces a parole violation charge tied to the Tuesday night incident.
According to VVNG, the stabbing happened around 11:50 p.m. on October 6 near an alley in the 14000 block of Palmdale Road. Hernandez and the victim were reportedly engaged in conversation when, authorities say, Hernandez became upset and brandished a knife approximately 12 inches long, stabbing the victim once in the upper left portion of his body.
After the attack, Hernandez left the scene, the outlet reports. The injured man walked to a nearby convenience store and asked for help, and he was later taken to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released details about the severity of his injuries or his current condition, though a separate search snippet from the Victorville Daily Press described the victim as seriously wounded in an argument that occurred in a Victorville alley — a detail that has not been independently confirmed.
Detectives Track Down the Suspect
Victorville Station detectives took over the investigation from responding deputies, receiving assistance from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the report notes. Detectives eventually located Hernandez and took him into custody.
He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto on suspicion of attempted murder under California Penal Code sections 664 and 187(a), as well as for a parole violation under Penal Code section 3056. Under California Legislative Information, section 664 applies when someone attempts to commit a crime but fails, or is prevented or intercepted before completing it, and sets out punishment where no other provision applies.
Investigation Remains Open
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are seeking information from the public. Anyone with information can contact the Victorville Sheriff's Station at (760) 241-2911 or sheriff's dispatch at (760) 956-5001. Anonymous tipsters can also call or text We-Tip at 844-909-3006 or submit information through the sheriff's department's online reporting portal.
The case lands amid a broader shift in Victorville's violent crime numbers. A separate search snippet from the Daily Press reported that violent crime in the city dropped 21.7 percent in 2025, even as seven homicides were recorded that year — context that underscores how a single stabbing can still rattle a community even as overall trends move in a different direction.
