Alo, the Los Angeles-based activewear brand known for its yoga pants and fitness gear, is setting up a massive new fulfillment and distribution center in Southaven, Mississippi, a project representing nearly $176 million in corporate investment and more than 400 new jobs. The company plans to occupy up to 1.2 million square feet of an existing building, with the possibility of adding returns processing operations down the line.
According to the Mississippi Development Authority, ALO is locating the national fulfillment and distribution center in Southaven as part of a broader push to expand its reach. The agency describes the facility as a state-of-the-art operation intended to help the company serve customers across the country. The Mississippi Development Authority is assisting with the project through its Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX, program, with DeSoto County and the city of Southaven also pitching in.
As WREG reports, Alo sells clothing and accessories centered around fitness and yoga, and the company hopes to fill the more than 400 new jobs by 2027. Southaven Mayor Darren Musselwhite welcomed the news, saying Alo and Southaven are a good fit and that he was proud to welcome the company to the city. Musselwhite described Alo as a leading provider of premium athletic apparel in America.
Where the Warehouse Is and Who Owns It
The Southaven facility sits at 3890 Highway 51 and spans 1.2 million square feet, according to The Daily Memphian. The outlet reports that Structured Assets II LLC acquired the warehouse and its 59.4-acre site from Helen of Troy in April for an undisclosed amount, setting the stage for Alo's move into the building.
Accounts differ on exactly when operations at the site will get underway. DeSoto County News reports that ALO began operations in August, while SGB Media reports that the facility is expected to be operational in 2027. The dossier does not clarify whether the reported August activity reflected a limited or preliminary start, leaving the full timeline unresolved.
A Growing Footprint for the Activewear Brand
Alo currently operates around 170 stores globally, including about 100 in the United States, per SGB Media. The Southaven project would give the company a major logistics anchor in the Mid-South, positioning it to ship products nationwide from a single, sprawling hub.
The announcement follows another recent economic development win for the city. DeSoto County News notes that the Alo news comes about a month after Mayo Clinic Laboratories unveiled a $30 million, 234-job project in Southaven, underscoring the area's momentum in attracting large employers. Together, the two projects add hundreds of jobs to DeSoto County in a short span of time.
