Details of the Beaver Creek rescue

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office received a call at about 3:15 p.m. on Oct. 22 about people stranded near East Dragonshead Road and Culpepper Ranch Road in Rimrock, according to Fox Weather and the Arizona Family report. Deputies searching the flooded area found the SUV about 150 feet downstream from the Wet Beaver Creek crossing, with all four people on its roof, Fox Weather reported.

Deputies sent the vehicle’s location to an Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopter, which rescued the four, according to Fox Weather and Arizona Family. Arizona Family reported that the sheriff’s office did not mention any injuries.

The National Weather Service attributed the creek’s rise of nearly 4 feet to repeated heavy rainfall from thunderstorms, Fox Weather reported. The station also reported that the weather service described the resulting flash flooding as life-threatening.
