A 24-year-old Atlanta man is behind bars without bond after investigators say he chased down a woman's car in early-morning traffic near Interstate 75 and fired multiple shots at her vehicle. Keilon Darbon Long was arrested in connection with the shooting, which happened at roughly 2:20 a.m. on October 7 near Interstate 75 North and Cumberland Boulevard.
According to an Instagram
account of the arrest, Long was accused of shooting at another car while chasing it through traffic. Arrest warrant records, detailed in a separate account posted to
, describe Long actively pursuing a female driver and firing multiple shots from a Glock 22 handgun at her vehicle as the chase unfolded on Cumberland Boulevard near the interstate.
Investigators were able to trace Long's vehicle in part because of its license plate — a personalized Alabama tag spelling a variation of his own first name, “KEIL0N,” according to the warrant records. It's an unusual twist in an otherwise fast-moving case: the same vanity plate meant to stand out on the road apparently helped point investigators straight back to him.
No Motive Established, Warrant Says
The arrest warrant states that Long had no legal right to fire his weapon during the incident, but it does not provide a motive for the shooting or indicate whether Long and the woman he's accused of pursuing knew each other beforehand. That gap leaves open basic questions about what sparked the chase in the first place.
Long now faces felony aggravated assault with a firearm from an automobile, felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and a misdemeanor charge of discharging a weapon within 50 yards of a public highway or street.
Held Without Bond
Booking records indicate Long is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center with zero bond.
The shooting adds to a string of aggressive-driving incidents that have rattled Cobb County roads throughout 2026. In June, Cobb County police investigated a road-rage shooting on Woodstock Road near Mabry Road in which a 57-year-old driver was shot multiple times before real-time camera tracking led officers to a 47-year-old suspect, according to CBS News. Two months later, Cobb County police arrested a 51-year-old man accused of driving around East Cobb pointing a handgun at random drivers during an early-morning spree, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, resulting in charges of aggravated assault and false imprisonment.
A Familiar Stretch of Road
The Cumberland Boulevard corridor has seen its own share of trouble this year. In late June, a traffic cutoff near Cumberland Boulevard and Cobb Parkway escalated into violence when a motorist was pursued to his apartment complex and pistol-whipped, Hoodline reported in its prior coverage of a Smyrna road rage case. A similar pattern played out in May, when Marietta police arrested a driver after an extended interstate pursuit during which the victim stayed on the line with 911 while being tailgated and brake-checked before the suspect brandished a firearm.
