Atlanta woke to clear skies and temperatures in the low 50s Wednesday morning, with a warm, sunny afternoon ahead. The high is expected to reach about 75 degrees, making for comfortable outdoor conditions before a noticeable weekend cooldown.

Wednesday will stay dry from morning through evening, with light, variable winds in most of the area and northeast winds in Atlanta through Wednesday afternoon. The forecast calls for no rain Wednesday night, with mainly clear skies, a few high clouds possible and temperatures around 50 degrees.

Dry Air Brings Elevated Fire Danger

The National Weather Service says relative humidity could drop to 30% or lower for at least four hours Wednesday afternoon and evening. With dry fuels across the area, residents should check with local burn-permitting authorities before burning outdoors and use extreme caution if they do.

No watches or warnings are listed, but a Special Weather Statement remains in effect through Wednesday evening for the fire danger. Light, variable winds will not eliminate the risk created by the very dry air.

Cooler Weekend, Then A Rebound

Thursday will look much like Wednesday, with sunshine, a high near 75 and a low around 50 Thursday night. Friday stays sunny with a high near 72, followed by a cooler Saturday near 67 and Sunday near 68.

Overnight lows will fall into the lower to mid 40s for most of the area by Sunday. Temperatures rebound to around 73 Monday and 75 Tuesday, with mostly sunny or partly sunny skies and no meaningful rain expected through the end of the forecast period.
