Atlanta police have issued a be-on-the-lookout alert for a missing 16-year-old who was last seen in Florida, after the teen's car turned up in Atlanta. Investigators are now asking anyone who may have spotted her to come forward.
Car Found In Atlanta After Teen Vanishes From Florida
According to 11Alive, the girl was last seen in Florida before her vehicle was discovered in Atlanta, prompting the department's BOLO. Police have urged the public to report any sightings of the teen, though further identifying details about her or the vehicle have not been released.
The station's report does not specify where in Florida the teen was last seen or where exactly her car was located once it reached Atlanta. Those gaps leave much of the case still unclear as investigators continue working to locate her.
A Similar Scare Played Out Less Than Two Years Ago
This is not the first time a car found abandoned in Atlanta has set off a search for a missing teenager from out of state. In December 2024, two missing girls from Mobile, Alabama — ages 16 and 15 — were reported missing after leaving Citronelle, Alabama, and their blue 2018 Hyundai Sonata was later found abandoned at Hilliard Street and Edgewood Avenue in southeast Atlanta, according to Atlanta News First.
In that case, the Mobile County Sheriff's Office said the girls had been reported missing by one of the girls' mothers. Atlanta police later confirmed the teens had been picked up by family members, bringing that search to a resolution. It remains unverified whether the current case has any connection to that earlier incident.
What Comes Next
For now, Atlanta police have not released additional details about the current case, including the teen's identity, a description, or specifics about the vehicle involved. Anyone with information has been asked to report it to authorities as the search continues.
