Bakersfield police are asking the public for help identifying a man accused of breaking into the Noriega House, a property at 1325 Baker Street, and making off with items from inside. Investigators have released a detailed description of the suspect's clothing but have not named him or confirmed an arrest.
According to KBAK, police said the man broke into the Noriega House and removed property from inside on July 23. The outlet describes the suspect as a man with a medium build who wore a baseball hat, a light-colored sweater and shorts, along with black gloves and long black socks. He reportedly wore one white shoe and one black shoe, and carried both a backpack and a bag, per the same report.
A Separate Account Describes a Different Burglary
A separate report from bakersfield.com describes a break-in at a residence in the 2300 block of Chester Avenue at about 1 a.m. on Aug. 17. That account describes the suspect as a white man with blond hair and a beard who wore a black shirt, tan shorts and a black backpack. It is not clear from available reporting whether this incident and the Noriega House case described by KBAK involve the same suspect or are connected in any way.
Anyone with information about the case is being asked to come forward. Bakersfield.com reports that tipsters can call Detective C. Perkins at 661-326-3947, or reach the Bakersfield Police Department directly at 661-327-7111.
Not an Isolated Appeal From Police
This is far from the only recent case in which Bakersfield police have turned to the public for help identifying a burglary suspect. In August, the department asked for help identifying whoever was behind an attempted home burglary at about 8:45 a.m. on July 10 in southeast Bakersfield, according to a separate bakersfield.com report. Earlier in the year, KGET 17 News reported that police were asking the community's help identifying a man wanted in a north Bakersfield burglary.
No arrest, charges or suspect name have been publicly confirmed in connection with the Noriega House break-in. Residents with information about the suspect's identity or whereabouts are urged to contact investigators using the numbers above.
