Downtown Benson is gearing up for a two-night Halloween block party this weekend, with music, vendors and a costume contest spilling into the neighborhood Friday and Saturday. Halloween Massive runs Oct. 30 and 31, turning the Omaha neighborhood into a weekend-long Halloween destination.
A Neighborhood Party With Local Talent
According to WOWT, Halloween Massive is a two-night block party taking place in Benson, Omaha, featuring artists and vendors alongside a costume contest. Among those helping preview the event is Hyddin, described by the station as a local DJ and producer who previewed Halloween Massive ahead of the weekend.
Hyddin's name is also turning up elsewhere on Omaha's crowded Halloween-week music calendar. An Edmtrain listing identifies a Halloween Massive event featuring Hyddin on Oct. 31, though how that particular listing connects to the two-night Benson block party described by the station was not established in the available listings. Benson Joins a Busy Omaha Halloween Week
Halloween Massive is just one entry on a packed slate of seasonal events across the metro this week. At Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, Zootacular runs Oct. 23-25 and again on Oct. 30, with trick-or-treating, live entertainment and after-dark animal encounters each night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., according to Oh My Omaha.
Costume contests aren't exclusive to Benson, either — Puzzlepalooza at Scriptown Brewing Co. takes place on the last Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. Horror fans looking for a quieter night in the dark have options too: Alamo Drafthouse in La Vista is running its Drafthouse of Horrors series, screening Trick or Treat on Oct. 30 and the original Halloween on Oct. 31. Out in Blair, the Skinny Bones Pumpkin Patch has a Halloween Bash on Oct. 31 during a Fall Festival running through Nov. 1, following weeks of themed weekends there.
For now, exact start times, ticket details and the full artist lineup for Benson's Halloween Massive remain unconfirmed beyond what's been reported, but the two-night format and Benson setting give Omaha one more reason to pick a costume before the weekend's out.
