A motorcyclist was thrown onto the roadway and airlifted for treatment Friday morning after the motorcycle struck a bus that ran a red light at the intersection of Mule Road and Edgebrook Drive South in Berkeley Township, according to police. How the Crash Unfolded
According to police, the motorcycle was traveling east on Westbrook Drive toward Edgebrook Drive South, while the bus was headed north on Mule Road. Police said the bus driver ran the red light, and the motorcycle struck the driver's side of the bus as a result. The impact threw the motorcyclist onto the roadway, per the same account.
The extent of the motorcyclist's injuries was not immediately known, police said. The rider was semiconscious before being flown to the hospital for evaluation via MedEvac, Jersey Shore Online reported.
Bus Driver Uninjured, Intersection Closed
The bus driver was uninjured in the crash and declined medical treatment, police said. Authorities temporarily closed the intersection while officers examined the scene, and both vehicles were later towed — the motorcycle by Jersey Shore Towing and the bus by Accurate Towing at the owner's request, per the report.
