Boulevard Beer Hall's tasting room has taken on a Halloween-themed, haunted ambiance again this fall, as the Halloween-themed pop-up bar BOOlevard returns for its fourth consecutive year. The seasonal bar runs from Wednesday, October 14, through October 31, bringing themed cocktails, a murder mystery night, and Halloween trivia to the Kansas City, Missouri brewery's visitor complex.

According to KCTV, Amber Ayers, director of tours and recreation at Boulevard Beer Hall, said the pop-up has grown since it started. This year's run leans on the brewery's Quirk hard seltzer line for its Halloween-themed cocktail menu, a choice rooted in the brand's business performance: Quirk, launched in 2020, had grown to represent one-third of Boulevard's total business by late 2023 and became the top-selling hard seltzer brand in the Kansas City metro, according to Brewbound. The pop-up also serves harvest dishes alongside its seasonal drink lineup, per Boulevard Brewing Co.

Hours and What to Expect This Month

The pop-up operates on a set schedule through October 31: Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m., the brewery's event listing notes. Beyond the murder mystery night and Halloween trivia, the bar hosts music events throughout the month as part of its seasonal programming.

BOOlevard is among the Kansas City metro's Halloween-themed pop-ups this October, alongside themed offerings at local distilleries including Tom's Town and J. Rieger & Co.

A Visitor Complex Built for Expansion

The tasting room hosting BOOlevard sits inside a 1929 red-brick building at 2534 Madison Avenue that once belonged to the Skelly Oil Company. Boulevard later planned to use the building for its Beer Hall and Tours & Recreation Center. The brewery acquired the building to handle visitor volume after its tours drew nearly 60,000 guests in 2015, the company has said. The complex also includes a fourth-floor space with shuffleboard.

The complex keeps growing. Boulevard broke ground in January on the Boulevard Yard, a major second-floor expansion designed to more than triple the Beer Hall's patio space at Brewhouse One, adding skyline views and an indoor-outdoor bar.

From a Pickup Truck to Missouri's Largest Craft Brewer

Boulevard's roots trace back to November 17, 1989, when founder John McDonald delivered the brewery's first keg of Pale Ale in a pickup truck to Ponak's Mexican Restaurant down Southwest Boulevard from the current campus. Unfiltered Wheat Beer helped build the brewery. Boulevard is part of Duvel USA, which also includes Brewery Ommegang in New York, Brewbound reported.

The pop-up arrives amid a favorable moment for Missouri's craft beer industry more broadly. The state's craft breweries produced 284,297 barrels of beer in 2025, generating nearly $1.2 billion in economic impact and supporting more than 7,200 jobs and nearly $330 million in wages and benefits, according to the Missouri Craft Brewers Guild.

BOOlevard's return also follows closely behind other Boulevard-linked programming in the city. Hoodline recently reported on the return of Taps & Tastes, the craft beer and culinary festival co-hosted by Boulevard Brewing Company along the KC riverfront. For now, BOOlevard gives Kansas City drinkers a reason to head to Madison Avenue through Halloween, with cocktails, trivia, and at least one night built around solving a murder.
