Boston starts Thursday with mostly clear skies and temperatures near 57 degrees, but the city is headed for a warmer afternoon before fall reasserts itself. Highs should reach about 71, with a chance of scattered showers from roughly 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and southwest wind gusts up to 26 mph.
Morning Showers, Then A Sunny Turn
The rain threat looks limited, with less than a tenth of an inch possible for most locations. After a few passing showers, clouds should thin out and sunshine should take over during the afternoon as winds turn west.
The National Weather Service Boston/Norton office expects mostly clear conditions Thursday night, with temperatures dropping to around 52 and west winds between 8 and 12 mph. Boaters should also note that a Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for portions of the nearby waters Thursday.
Cooler, Mostly Dry Weekend Takes Shape
Friday will be sunny but cooler, with a high near 66, followed by a clear night near 47. Saturday looks like the best outdoor day of the weekend, bringing sunshine, light west winds and a high around 63.
Sunday stays partly sunny and milder, with temperatures climbing near 69, but the weather turns unsettled after dark. Rain showers are likely Sunday night, with a 70% chance of precipitation and a low around 58.
Holiday Monday Looks Wet Before Another Cooldown
Showers are likely to continue into Monday, including Columbus Day, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 65. The rain chance is about 70%, so outdoor plans may need a backup option, especially from Sunday evening through Monday.
The latest outlook adds sharper timing and higher rain chances to Hoodline’s earlier forecast. Tuesday brings another chance of showers, while Wednesday turns noticeably cooler, with a high near 56.
