Brave Books has stopped serving walk-in customers at its El Paso location after receiving a city notice of violation related to a zoning complaint, KTSM reported. The bookstore is at 1307 Arizona Avenue.
Store seeks commercial zoning
Chron reported that Brave Books expected to remain closed to foot traffic for roughly three months while seeking to change the property’s classification to commercial. The store is continuing to sell books online and through social media, according to Chron. KTSM also reported that the city was working with the bookstore on zoning requirements.
What to expect from the zoning review
The City of El Paso says rezoning applications typically take approximately 10 to 12 weeks from submission to finalization, although incomplete applications or unique circumstances may extend the process. Applicants and members of the public may present their views at public hearings before the City Plan Commission and City Council, according to the City of El Paso Planning & Inspections.
