Buffalo is starting Wednesday with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-40s, but the afternoon should turn noticeably milder. The high is expected to reach 66 degrees with light south winds and almost no chance of rain, setting up an even warmer Thursday.
Thursday Brings Heat, Wind And A Shower Chance
Thursday could reach 71 degrees, making it the warmest day of the week, but southwest winds will strengthen and become breezy, with gusts as high as 35 mph. A slight chance of rain showers arrives after 5 p.m., followed by a chance of showers Thursday evening and night before the rain tapers off early Friday.
The National Weather Service Buffalo office expects rainfall to stay light, with new amounts generally below a tenth of an inch, and no watches or warnings are posted. The updated setup is a substantial change from Hoodline’s earlier forecast, which had Thursday closer to 62 degrees.
Mostly Dry Halloween Weekend Follows
Friday should turn mostly sunny and cooler, with a high near 60 and a low around 39 Friday night. Saturday looks mostly sunny with another high near 60, while Halloween night should be mostly cloudy with a low around 49.
Sunday brings partly sunny skies and a high near 64 before a slight chance of showers late Sunday night. Showers are possible Tuesday, but the main local weather story is a warm, breezy Thursday followed by a mostly dry weekend.
Dry Leaves Remain A Weather Concern
The region’s long dry stretch has left leaf litter and other fine fuels unusually dry, according to the National Weather Service. Officials do not expect the combination of wind and low humidity to reach critical fire-weather levels through the weekend, but Thursday’s gusts and the limited rainfall will not do much to change the dry conditions.
