Buffalo is starting Saturday with mostly cloudy conditions and a stiff northwest wind. A few rain showers may linger before 8 a.m., but skies should turn mostly sunny by afternoon as the high reaches about 49 degrees.
Freeze Warning Arrives Saturday Night
The bigger concern comes after sunset, when a freeze warning takes effect across parts of the Buffalo region from 11 p.m. Saturday through 9 a.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service expects temperatures around 30 degrees, with the coldest readings likely in rural areas away from the immediate lakeshores.
Residents with gardens or other cold-sensitive plants should cover or move them before bedtime Saturday. The warning includes Northern Erie County along with Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga and Genesee counties, though the city’s lakeshore areas may stay somewhat milder.
Sunshine Returns Sunday
Saturday afternoon should stay dry, although a few wet snowflakes could briefly mix into showers over higher terrain during the morning. There is no accumulation expected, and Sunday will bring a much friendlier forecast with sunny skies, a high near 60 and southwest winds that could gust to 24 mph.
Sunday night will be clear with a low around 41, setting up a sharp contrast between the weekend’s frosty start and its warmer finish. Outdoor plans should be much easier Sunday afternoon, though the breeze may still make exposed spots feel cooler.
Warm, Dry Stretch Builds Next Week
The extended forecast turns notably calmer and warmer, with sunny highs near 64 Monday, 65 Tuesday, 65 Wednesday and 66 Thursday. Friday should remain mostly sunny with a high around 64, while overnight lows stay mainly in the low to mid-40s.
The shift is a substantive update to Hoodline’s earlier Buffalo forecast, which focused on the late-week rain and first weekend chill. This time, the headline is the freeze risk Saturday night followed by several days of dry autumn sunshine.
