Buffalo is starting Sunday with a sharp chill, clear skies and a freeze warning that remains in effect through 9 a.m. After the coldest part of the morning passes, sunshine will take over and temperatures should climb to around 60 degrees, setting up a much warmer week.
The National Weather Service says the coldest readings will likely be in rural areas away from the immediate lakeshores, where frost and freeze conditions could damage cold-sensitive plants. The warning covers Buffalo and surrounding counties, making this a good morning to leave the garden covered a little longer.
Afternoon Winds Pick Up
Sunday afternoon will stay sunny, with southwest winds increasing to between 5 and 14 mph. Sunday night should be clear with a low near 42, so the day will feel mild by comparison, but the evening will still call for a jacket.
The forecast marks a substantive shift from the late-week rain and weekend chill Hoodline previously covered. Monday looks warmer at 64 degrees, followed by sunny highs near 63 on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Dry Weather Holds Through Next Weekend
Mostly sunny or sunny conditions are expected to continue Thursday through Saturday, with highs near 66 Thursday, 64 Friday and 49 Saturday. Overnight lows will generally settle in the upper 30s or low 40s, keeping mornings brisk even as afternoons turn pleasantly mild.
The National Weather Service expects dry, warmer weather through the week. Rain chances remain near zero through Wednesday and increase sharply toward the weekend. For Buffalo residents, that means a cold start Sunday followed by a rare stretch of easy outdoor weather.
