A man was shot in the arm outside Nollywood Lounge on Buford Highway early Monday, while a second man whom investigators identified as a suspect was found nearby with a head injury. Police have not said who fired the shots or what caused the second man’s injury, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
Officers responded around 2:57 a.m. to the lounge at 4646 Buford Highway. They found Pedro Rodriguez Alzurutt with a gunshot wound to his right arm and Ivan De la Rosa Mena with a head injury. Both received medical assistance and were taken to separate hospitals, FOX 5 reported.
What the witness account does—and does not—establish
A security guard told investigators she saw staff escort De la Rosa Mena from the lounge because he appeared extremely intoxicated. She said Rodriguez Alzurutt was speaking with him in the parking lot and seemed to be trying to calm him, though she could not understand their conversation. The guard reported hearing one shot, then a pause, followed by three more. Her account, as reported by FOX 5, does not identify who fired or explain how De la Rosa Mena was injured.
Investigators collected De la Rosa Mena’s clothing at the hospital and planned to interview him after his release, FOX 5 reported. Police also impounded a red 2021 Kia Sorento pending a search warrant. The incident report did not state whether charges had been filed.
A separate shooting near Buford Highway
The lounge case is distinct from a March 28, 2026, shooting at a quinceañera near 4300 Buford Highway. Atlanta News First reported that three juveniles were shot at the event. The incidents occurred at different locations and under different circumstances; the earlier case provides local context, but does not establish a connection or indicate a broader trend.
