Chris Stapleton has postponed his two upcoming Kansas City concerts after announcing he is battling the flu and unable to perform. The shows originally set for Oct. 9 and Oct. 10 at Morton Amphitheater in Riverside have been pushed back to Oct. 14 and Oct. 15, with the artist's original tickets honored on the new dates.
The illness led to a schedule change for the Kansas City concerts. According to fox4kc.com, concerts in Kansas City have been rescheduled after the artist announced he is battling the flu, with both the Oct. 9 and Oct. 10 shows moved to Oct. 14 and 15. The country music singer is expected to perform at Morton Amphitheater this month as part of his All-American Road Show Tour, with special guests including Carter Faith.
The postponement wasn't limited to Kansas City. Stapleton's performance at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska, originally scheduled for Oct. 7, has been rescheduled to Oct. 26, as reported by ketv.com. For Kansas City, the amphitheater said tickets for the Friday, Oct. 9 show will be honored Oct. 14, and tickets for the Saturday, Oct. 10 show will be honored Oct. 15.
A Scramble for Fans Who Can't Make the New Dates
Fans who already had plans built around the original weekend now face a logistical shuffle. Those unable to make it to the rescheduled dates are asked to contact their point of purchase within seven days, per the same station's report. Stapleton himself addressed the disruption directly, saying he sincerely thanks people who made plans to attend and apologizes for the inconvenience, and that he appreciates fans' patience and understanding and looks forward to seeing them soon.
The rescheduled dates were shared on Stapleton's social media, and fans who cannot attend are asked to contact their point of purchase.
Why the Kansas City Dates Were Already a Big Deal
The two-night Kansas City booking wasn't an accident of scheduling. Stapleton had been slated for two October nights at the Riverside venue because of high demand after tickets first went on sale for his initial show, according to kansascity.com, with the pairing originally billed as Chris Stapleton with Nikki Lane on Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10. Per the Kansas City Star, those concerts were near-sold-out shows before the postponement was announced.
Morton Amphitheater itself seats up to 16,000 visitors and includes a general-admission lawn section, and its 2026 calendar has leaned heavily on star power, booking 32 shows between June and October spanning country, pop and rock acts. Bobby Witt Jr. even tagged his wife, Maggie, in the comment section of Live Nation KC's Instagram post about the news, a small sign of how closely Kansas City sports and music fandom overlap around the venue's biggest bookings.
For now, the rescheduled Kansas City shows are locked in for Wednesday, Oct. 14, and Thursday, Oct. 15, giving fans who held onto their original tickets a new date to plan around while Stapleton recovers.
