Cincinnati police are asking the public for help putting a name to a face connected to a theft at the Kroger on Paxton Avenue. District Two investigators say they're trying to identify an individual involved in the case and are turning to the community for tips.
According to a post from the Cincinnati Police Department
, “District Two investigators are attempting to identify an individual involved in a theft offense that occurred at the Kroger on Paxton Ave.” The department added, “If you can identify the individual, or have any information regarding the incident, please contact Det. Gibson.” Investigators have not released the date of the theft, what was taken, or a description of the person they're trying to identify.
How to Submit a Tip
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Gibson directly at 513-979-4468. Tips can also be phoned in anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040, the same contact numbers listed in the department's post. The department's social media account notes it is not monitored continuously and lists its location as Cincinnati, Ohio 45214, and it has reminded followers to call 911 for emergencies rather than wait for a response online.
This isn't the first time Cincinnati police have turned to social media to crowdsource an identification for a District Two case. The department's account previously sought help identifying a suspect in a theft at a Target on Geier Drive, where a pictured suspect allegedly used a stolen credit card to make purchases, with tips directed to a different officer at the time.
Other Theft Cases at Cincinnati Krogers
The Paxton Avenue Kroger has drawn police attention before, though it has not been confirmed whether any of those cases are connected to this latest theft investigation. Local 12 has reported that Cincinnati police were still searching for a suspect eight months after someone held up the Fifth Third Bank inside that same Kroger on February 14, just before 4 p.m. That robbery remains unsolved, per the station's report.
Separately, WLWT reported on July 2, 2024, that a suspect was accused of stealing $1,400 “by deception” at the Western Union counter inside the Kroger on W. Corry Street in Corryville, in an incident that happened April 22. It is not known whether that case is related to the Paxton Avenue theft investigators are now asking the public to help solve.
For now, the case remains open, and police have not said whether a suspect has been identified or whether an arrest is anticipated. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to Detective Gibson or Crime Stoppers using the numbers above.
