The Cincinnati Police Department announced Friday that a missing juvenile has been located and thanked the public for sharing information. The department did not identify the juvenile or say where or when the child was found.
“This missing juvenile has been located,” the Cincinnati Police Department
posted from its official account, cincypd, at 9:17 a.m. Friday, in the same post that added: “Thank you to everyone who reposted and shared the info!”
Beyond those two lines, the department offered no further details in its post. It is unclear how long the juvenile had been missing, the circumstances surrounding the disappearance, or any identifying information about the child.
A Pattern of Limited Public Detail
This kind of brief, detail-light update is not unusual for Cincinnati-area missing juvenile cases. In December 2025, when a 13-year-old girl from Western Hills who had been reported missing was found safe overnight, police confirmed the recovery without elaborating extensively, according to WLWT. In that case, officials said the girl had disappeared around 5:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and noted that concern was heightened because she had been diagnosed with autism and several other conditions.
A similar pattern played out in a case out of Independence, where a missing teenager was located safely, the station reported. Police said the 15-year-old had been missing since Friday morning, but as WCPO noted, officers did not say where the teen was found, only that he was safe.
Procedure Calls for Follow-Up After a Juvenile Is Found
Under the Cincinnati Police Department's own procedure manual, locating a missing juvenile is not necessarily the end of the process. The manual states that when the located missing person is a juvenile, police are to conduct a follow-up investigation, according to the Cincinnati Police Department procedure manual.
The department's social media presence also comes with stated limitations. Cincinnati police have noted that the page is not monitored continuously, and the department instructs the public to call 911 for emergencies rather than rely on social posts for urgent matters.
Not Confirmed to Be Connected to Other Cases
It has not been verified whether Friday's post is connected to any other missing-juvenile case in the city's history. A 2018 alert, for instance, sought information on Raven Chapman, who left her residence in Walnut Hills on April 14, 2018, in an unknown direction, according to an alert posted on tip411.com. That alert described Chapman as having black curly afro hair with blonde streaks and asked anyone with information to call Police Dispatch or Crime Stoppers. There is no evidence tying that eight-year-old case to Friday's announcement.
Cincinnati has also seen recent cases that remained open for public help before resolution. Earlier this month, police sought the public's help locating Caeden Chatmon, described as an endangered missing juvenile in Price Hill, Hoodline previously reported. It is not known whether that case and Friday's located-juvenile post are related.
Missing Children Cases Mostly End in Safe Recoveries
Statewide figures put Friday's case in the context of missing children reports in Ohio. Ohio law enforcement agencies logged 15,367 missing children reports in 2025, per Hoodline's earlier reporting. That broader context underscores how common these searches are across the region.
For now, the Cincinnati Police Department's brief update stands as the only official word on the case. Anyone with information relevant to an active missing persons situation is directed to contact 911 for emergencies, per the department's standing guidance.
